If you’re a True Spring, sneakers are an easy place to bring in your warm, clear colors. They’re one of those wardrobe basics we wear constantly, so I like to have a pair that feels connected to the rest of my closet. And you have SUCH a pretty palette to play with!

Sneakers (tennis shoes for my fellow Midwesterners, trainers, gym shoes, you get it) are an easy way to instantly style an outfit. I’ve rounded up five of my favorite True Spring sneakers, ranging from easy neutrals to colorful options that work well within your wardrobe.

What Makes a Good True Spring Sneaker?

True Spring sits between Bright Spring and Light Spring in the twelve-season color analysis system. Your palette is warm and clear.

You don’t have to wear a shoe in your seasonal color palette every time and certainly can just wear whatever you want. And you don’t have to wear a colorful sneaker every time. In fact, a good neutral sneaker can become one of the hardest-working pieces in your wardrobe. But if you’re like me, you want a cohesive, easy wardrobe that’s easy to wear and that includes shoes.

When you’re shopping for True Spring sneakers, look for:

  • Warm ivory and cream
  • Camel and warm tan
  • Bright coral and warm coral pink
  • Warm teal and aqua
  • Bright golden yellow
  • Warm kelly green or grass green
  • Warm navy
  • Poppy red or orange-red
  • Fun, clear prints

The Best True Spring Sneakers

Here are five everyday shoes that work well with a True Spring wardrobe. I’ve included a mix of neutrals and brighter colors because I think both have a place in a practical wardrobe.

#1. Ivory or Cream Sneakers

We think of a white sneaker as a versatile choice but for a True Spring, you’ll want a warmer color than bright white. You’ll want to go for a warm ivory or cream instead. The Reebok Shadoray Sneaker in Chalk/Glen Green is an easy go-to and if you want a little more fun in your daily shoe, try the Blowfish Malibu Sadie-Sun in White Desert Canvas for those adorable flowers on the side!

#2. Golden Yellow or Warm Teal

If you want a sneaker that works as a signature True Spring color, try warm teal or a golden yellow. I actually love using a colorful sneaker like the Vans Women’s Brooklyn LS Shoe in Canvas Heritage Mustard with an otherwise simple outfit like jeans and a white tee. It’s also an easy way to start transitioning from an overall neutral wardrobe into one in your color palette.

#3. Warm Pink or Poppy Red Sneakers

Look for coral, warm pink, orange-red or poppy reds. I especially love a red sneaker with denim like the Puma Palermos in Fierce Red/Poison Pink

#4. Kelly Green Or Grass Green

Kelly green and grass green are so good on you. A green sneaker can be easy to style, especially if you already wear white, denim, navy, or warm neutrals. I really love the Court Green/Yellow/Linen Green color on adidas Women’s Run 70s 2.0s.

#5. Warm Neutral Sneakers

For a neutral everyday shoe that isn’t a white, look for navy, camel, and warm tan . A good neutral sneaker earns its place because it just makes getting dressed easier.  Try New Balance Women’s 574 Shoes in Linen/Indigo.

BONUS: Casual Slip-On Shoe

While technically not a sneaker, I’m a huge fan of a good slip-on shoe. Sometimes you don’t want to bother with tying shoes, you know? And they come in some fantastic prints like these Native Jefferson Wanderfoam Shoes in Bone White/Bone White/Seaweed Ink Tropic.

How to Choose the Right True Spring Sneakers

When you’re deciding between several pairs of sneakers, start with the colors you already wear most.

If your wardrobe is mostly white, denim, and colorful tops, a bright sneaker could be a fun way to tie everything together. But if you wear a lot of colorful clothing already, a bright white or warm neutral sneaker may be more useful.

Shoes are relatively far away from your face, so you have more flexibility with them than you do with tops, scarves, or earrings. That means you don’t need to panic if you can’t find the exact perfect True Spring shade. A shoe that sits a bit outside your palette is totally fine.

The goal of color analysis isn’t to make your wardrobe complicated or to find the “perfect” pieces. It’s to make shopping easier and help you recognize the colors that make you feel your best.
